<p>As your NDIS plan approaches its expiration date, it's natural to feel some apprehension. However, it's crucial to understand that your plan can be renewed and updated. Acting before the expiration date is key, as obtaining a new plan may require some time.</p>
<p>Several weeks prior to your plan's expiration, the NDIS will reach out to initiate a discussion about your plan review, current support needs, and any changes in your circumstances. Participating in this review meeting is essential for adjusting your plan effectively.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>What&nbsp;Happen When Your NDIS Plan Expires?</strong></h3>
<p>Before your NDIS plan expires, the NDIS will contact you to discuss your situation. You'll have the option to maintain your plan as is or make necessary adjustments based on your circumstances. However, if no action is taken and your plan expires, it may automatically extend.&nbsp;</p>

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the NDIS listened to participants concerns and ensured that when a plan reaches its end date and a new plan hasn’t been finalised yet, the current plan will be automatically extended for up to 12 months.</p>
<h5><strong>Plan Renewals</strong></h5>
<p>Plan&nbsp;renewals&nbsp;are like plan extensions but involves obtaining a new plan. The main difference lies in the fact that during plan renewals, you engage in a more comprehensive planning conversation with the NDIS partner to discuss what's working, what's not, and any changes to your goals or support needs.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Typically, your new plan commences when the current one ends. However, there may be instances where your NDIS&nbsp;partner can initiate the new plan before the current plan's end date.&nbsp;</p>
<h5><strong>The Review Process</strong></h5>
<p>When your plan is reviewed it could be either a variation or an assessment, a plan variation addresses minor changes that may be necessary for your NDIS plan. This can include correcting minor technical errors, modifying the statement of support related to fund management for support, or addressing crisis or emergency funding needs due to changes in your support requirements.</p>
<p>A plan reassessment involves the NDIA&nbsp;contacting you three months before the plan's end date to organise a planned reassessment.
