What is Counselling?

Counselling is when a trained counsellor helps you with problems, improves your mental health, and makes positive changes in your life. You can share your feelings, thoughts, and work through challenges in a safe and confidential space without judgment. Counselling helps you set and work towards personal goals related to your growth, relationships, or coping strategies.
Different types of counseling are available to help you. Individual counseling is available for personal issues whereas couples counseling is for better communication and conflict resolution. Group counseling allows you to work through common issues with others. Family counseling is for addressing conflicts within your family.

Why is it helpful and how do I access it?

Counselling can help you with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, stress, grief, trauma, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges. It can also assist in building better coping skills, offering support, strategies, communication skills, and resilience.
This tool can help improve your mental health and well-being. It offers support and strategies to deal with life's challenges and make positive changes. It can be useful for addressing specific issues or for personal development in general. It can be useful for addressing specific issues or for personal development in general.
If you need counselling through the NDIS, make sure your plan includes ‘Improved Daily Living’ funding. Allied health professionals can use this for counseling if it relates to your short-term goals.
In your first counselling session, the focus will be on getting to know you and setting therapy goals. The counsellor will ask about your history, current situation, goals, struggles, and interests.
